Vertical Jump Training Questions Related to Vertical Jump Recovery

I have been training correctly and still I cannot achieve results! Why?!

Well first let's assume that the active training portion is actually correct, even perfect. What we must realize is that the "active" portion of training, the portion where we are jumping, lifting, or otherwise stressing our body is only a portion of training. Doing this part of your training correctly does not guarantee you results. Why? Because without proper nutrition and recovery you will never see the results you have initiated. This is like planting a seed but never giving it proper water to grow.

Furthermore, you have to resist the urge to over-train, meaning you have to give your body proper recovery or your muscles and nervous system will not recover and you will actually lose inches in you vertical. You see, a proper training session will actually weaken your muscles temporarily, and unless proper recovery and regeneration are provided they will remain weaker, and then you will work out again, further weakening your muscles, and the cycle continues.

Proper training must be followed by proper recovery and regeneration in order to achieve optimum results.

I am pretty sore. Should I still train?

No. You should never train sore. The soreness is a signal that your muscles are not fully recovered form your previous workout and require more recovery time. Breaking your muscles down further will only slow the progress of the much needed recovery. Furthermore, if you are sore you will not be capable of performing your max effort, and thus your will not have an optimal training session anyways.

Remember, recovery is equally as important as the training sessions.
